A Latte Lipstick

I’ve always been a huge advocate of weekend getaways. They’re like mini vacations, but a realistic way to relax when you can’t sneak away for an entire vacation. Sometimes just a day or two can work wonders for your mental health.

The past weekend Colton and I went to Dallas and participated in some of our favorite things. We enjoyed two tasty brunches, a Dave Matthews Band concert, a Rangers game and some shopping.

As you all know, I’m not the hugest sports fan on earth, but I do enjoy going to baseball games. The atmosphere is just perfect and different than the typical sports game, at least to me. It’s outdoors and just feels more relaxed and fun, plus I love peanuts. Not to mention how many adorable daddy, son duos I saw, which melted my heart.

You may be shocked to see a beer can in my hand, but when I do rarely choose beer over wine, it has to be this seasonal Shiner Ruby Redbird. If you haven’t tried it, I would recommend a taste! It’s so grapefruit-y and refreshing!

But back to the food, we got to try a new brunch place called Mercat Bistro that I had never been to before but will definitely be back on my next visit. I just loved it! It was nestled in Hardwood District and felt very European, and I’m a sucker for that vibe. I had the most delicious, simple omelette topped with brie. Yummy! Colton enjoyed the eggs benedict and loved it.

And how fabulous are the glasses and sweet little tea plates? I definitely want to put some of those plates and glasses on my wedding registry! The glass is very Great Gatsby, am I right? Maybe Leo will come hang out with me if I have these glasses?

I am also very excited about my Adidas that finally came in. Right when they arrived I immediately put them on my feet. They sure know how to make a girl wait! I felt like I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a dear friend who was taking way to long to visit. In reality, it was only a few weeks, but I just couldn’t wait to get them! These babies will be paired with boyfriend jeans, skirts, dresses, pants, etc. The hardest part will be keeping these shoes white! I already spilled some red wine on them but luckily it just wiped right off – whew! 😉

My top is from the brand Three Dots, purchased at a boutique in OKC – R Meyers. I just love Three Dots shirts because they are super soft and casual but actually hold up well and don’t fall apart after one wash.  I much prefer spending a couple more dollars on a shirt that will last than buying one that gets a hole in it immediately.

The second brunch we were lucky enough to enjoy was at one of my favorite places, True Food. The first time I had brunch at True Food was when I was in Denver and I just fell in love with the vibe and their philosophy of eating only yummy, healthy food that is anti-inflammatory. I was so excited when I saw that it was in Dallas too. Next stop OKC? What do you say True Food? Come hang out with us.

See that fringe hanging out? There was of course a little shopping happening on this trip. I got a new fringe purse that I adore. I’m so happy that fringe is in again and hope that it never goes away! This particular bag is from Fossil. Are any of you all still shopping at Fossil? I just couldn’t help myself!! The leather is really nice because it’s soft, yet durable. I will be wearing this purse all summer long!

Of course we made our every time we go to Dallas stop, any guesses?…

Sprinkles – oops. I just can’t control myself around those cupcakes. Seriously, I don’t know what it is about them but they have the cupcakes down. I feel like Paul Rudd from This is 40 every time I eat them.

I have made my love for Gimme Brow known on the blog before, but wanted to give it another shoutout. I still haven’t found any other product that works as well as this one, and why stray? For the Eyes

Nars Velvet Eye Shadow Stick in Oaxaca
This eyeshadow is awesome for the sake that you don’t need more then two seconds to apply it and go. I am super lazy when it comes to brushes, so this eyeshadow is perfect for me because no brush is needed! It just simply rolls on and stays put. I’ll definitely be going back for another color 🙂

Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Liquid Eyeliner
This liquid liner is perfect for cat eyes. The fine tip makes it easy to swipe across your lash line without it getting bulky if you make one or two mistakes. Trust me when I say it stays on quite well! After a grueling workout, there was no sign of liner dripping down my face, which is a huge win.

For the Lips

Estee Lauder Long Lasting Lipstick

I love Estee Lauder long lasting lipstick. You know why? They’re truly long lasting! As of late I’ve only let a lip stain touch my lips but realized how difficult that could be when your lips are chapped. This is a great creamy lipstick that actually stays on well and keeps my lips nice and hydrated.

For the Face

25 seems like a big year! I am officially a quarter of a century, y’all! This might be the year that I would want to stay at if I were to ever become a vampire. 😉 It just seems the age to stick to in terms of your body’s prime health, agility, metabolism, and most importantly – fewer wrinkles. Ha. Not to put a damper on aging or any of my future birthday weekend celebrations…

I enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at La Brasa, a Peruvian restaurant, that we went to last year for my birthday. I can’t help it, I just love the place! The food and the service is just amazing and the atmosphere is super fun! Nothing like being surrounded by such sweet friends on your birthday and I couldn’t have felt more loved!

This weekend Colton and I enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a leisurely brunch at Flint. Birthdays require multiple mimosas 🙂 I got some delicious oats that came with Nutella and bananas. I couldn’t think of a more glorious combination. Then, I had a delicious omelette that was not pictured because I was too excited to eat it! Oops!

After, we walked around the Myriad Gardens to work off all the delicious food that we overindulged in 🙂 Birthday weekend – you’re allowed too. We basked in the beautiful sun and watched the new little baby ducklings swimming around with their mommy. The gardens were full of people walking, running, relaxing, and it made me super happy to see so many people being active and enjoying the glorious day in Oklahoma City.

Colton caught me while glancing down at my ring and admiring it. I think I will always be in awe of my gorgeous ring, he did such a good job! 25 is also a great age since that is the age I become a Mrs.!

There was of course no way I wouldn’t treat myself to a latte on my birthday so we found the Double Decker coffee joint called Junction Coffee. This double decker is such an awesome creation that was renovated in 2014 by the sweetest couple. You can find them at these certain locations mostly, but you can also invite them to your event, which is so fun. Their lattes never disappoint!

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and helped make this birthday weekend so great! I’m so thankful for this beautiful life I have been blessed with and resolve to make 25 be a year of less worry, and more adventure! Regardless of your age – Who’s with me?

How amazingly beautiful are these tulips? I just can’t get over them. Nothing quite screams spring to me like tulips. They have to be the happiest flowers, or, at least in an intense battle for first with daisies. What is your favorite flower? I’m a pretty basic lady and have to say roses and tulips! I’m still determining what kind of flowers I want to have at my wedding. Moving on from flowers to fruits, how adorable is this white sleeveless beaded top?

My white beaded top is by Nicole Miller from R Meyers. The top has beaded fruit on it, I mean, how much more fun could you possibly get when it comes to choosing what to wear? If you can’t play with your wardrobe, then you are missing out on an incredible way to express yourself! Feel empowered to buy that absurd poofy skirt! Just see how your mood changes. Clothes are powerful and can really change up your vibe. Too often women are afraid of trying new things, but clothes are definitely a safe arena to change it up and see what you like. Who knows? You might even be an overalls person.
