New Years Eve Accessories and Makeup Essentials

December 31, 2015 2 Comments

Happy New Years Eve ladies!! Who is as excited as I am to bring in the new year?

2015 definitely did right by me but I cannot wait to start fresh in 2016. It’s a time to reassess what you are doing and what you want to do in the next year. I am a huge fan of making goals and this is the ultimate time to make them, and encourage others to make them!

Some questions I like to bug my friends with on New Years Eve are below. I love to see how different people interpret the questions too. Then, once you hear their answers, be sure and continue to encourage throughout the year to reach those goals!

Who will you be in 2016?
What will you do in 2016?
What will you see in 2016?

Moving on to another favorite part of New Years Eve, the getting ready and beautiful things part! Below are some of my accessories and makeup essentials that I will be taking out with me to celebrate the end of 2015.

New Years Eve Essentials

New Years Eve
Ring: Elizabeth and James/Purse: Stella&Dot/Lip: Nars/Nails:OPI/ Fur:Kelli Kouri/Fragrance:Fresh

I love this little clutch and it’s just the perfect size to fit in my phone, a fragrance, lip color, polish and wallet. Now the odds of me fixing my polish during a night out is slim to none but I do like to bring my color with me while it’s on to fix any chips if the opportunity arises. Nothing looks worse then chipped finger nails. I usually prefer bare nails because I just hate when they chip and I’m not the best about up keep.

Fragrance is essential for a night out. If it’s going to be a long night (which it always is AND should be on New Years Eve) you normally need to apply some more as the night goes on. Careful not to overdo it though! Nothing is worse then drowning in someone’s perfume while speaking with them.

New Years Eve

I just ADORE this ring by Elizabeth and James. It is just adorable and adds some bling without being too blingy. Her line has the best geometric shaped jewelry, which I love and is just beautifully crafted.

New Years Eve

Love Nars matte lipstick! It stays on really well and is just the perfect color for me. It’s just the perfect bright red without being completely overwhelming.

So, I’m dying to hear – What are your goals for 2016?  What are you doing for New Years Eve? What are you wearing?

Turtlenecks and Letting Go

November 16, 2015 1 Comment

Turtlenecks have to be about one of my favorite cold weather items. They are just so cozy and snuggly. If you think about it, turtlenecks are basically a top and scarf combined. I have honestly never been cold inside wearing a turtleneck, and that’s a rare occasion. Turtlenecks deserve recognition for their hard work in keeping us warm; they are pros at their job.

Neutral turtlenecks are great to mix, match and create many fun looks that appear completely unique and give off different vibes. Blacks, whites, tans are my faves. Pairing turtlenecks with skirts, tights and fun statement jewelry has to be one of my favorite winter looks. In this look I’m keeping it simple with some black jeans, boots, and a Giving Key necklace.

I absolutely adore the idea and meaning behind the Giving Key Necklace. If you haven’t heard of them before let me introduce how they work… You buy a key that has a message that means something to you. Once you feel you have lived out that message, you give it to someone else you think could grow from the message similarly. It’s a pay it forward type thing.

The message I chose is “Let Go.” This is such an important memo to me. Unfortunately, I don’t know how quickly this key will be given away… I have some serious work to do when it comes to letting go. Anyone else currently struggling with a situation that they can’t quite rip their paws away from? But know you should? It’s so hard to let go when this situation means so much, but sometimes letting go and seeing where it takes or directs you is the best possible decision.

Big question though, are you more into the white wall or the color splatter?

So let go, wear turtlenecks and potentially look into buying a Giving Key!

Best Products for Silkier, Longer Fall Hair

October 6, 2015 2 Comments

When fall arrives,  I immediately want that silky, longer fall hair. Yes, you know what I’m talking about… the hair made to go perfectly with plaid scarves, fun hats, and crisp air.

However, this coveted hair is normally more difficult to achieve after a summer full of chlorine, sun, and bleached strands. So how can you get back to that healthy soft hair in a pinch?

Apple Cider Vinegar
So many of the well-known shampoo brands aren’t actually good for your hair and cause build up. Get those strands back to their normal, silky glory with a weekly rinse of apple cider. Apple cider can return your scalp to a healthy pH level. Use 1/3 cup of vinegar with four cups of water in the shower then rinse.

Garlic
Warning – you may need to wash your hair with your best smelling shampoo a couple times after. However the benefits far outweigh the momentary smell. Plus, I love the smell of garlic, perhaps not in my hair but sometimes you must widen your view. 😉 Garlic can be used to stimulate hair growth and enhance your hair texture. Add a garlic clove to your conditioner and use this conditioner 1 or 2x a month. To dilute the intense smell, mix the garlic clove with honey before adding.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is magical and can be used for almost anything! It moisturizes your skin perfectly and can do the same for your locks! Coat your hair in coconut oil and leave it on for at least 20 minutes to condition your hair and then wash out.

Biotin
Eating foods with biotin, or taking a supplement can really help boost hair growth. Don’t want to take the actual vitamin? Eat almonds, carrots and drink milk!

Still not doing the trick? These ideas typically don’t work if your hair is past a certain point, aggravating as it may be. Sometimes a good chop is in order to get your hair back to its full potential. When your hair has gotten too dry, perhaps even fried, a healthy cut can make a world of difference. Go ahead, get a harmless cut and then watch it grow into a healthy mane. Gorgeous hair can’t grow from dry split ends.

Be sure and protect your hair!

What’s your favorite “fall hair” look?

Pearl Earrings Add Class

March 7, 2015 3 Comments

Earrings are still my favorite jewelry piece. I just love the way they shape your face and can be so simple and classic or extravagant and dramatic. Unlike necklaces, they don’t snag your beloved sweater and don’t tangle. My track record with misplacing jewelry is not the best but I hardly lose these babies.

Earrings have recently took it up a notch on exciting styles. Obsessed with the current earring trend of fun earring backs and cuffs. Why would you go with a normal earring when you could add another large gem behind your ear? This trend was seen all over the Christian Dior runway. So very French!

I just had to get some of these earrings for myself! Pearls are one of my favorite stones because they go with anything and can immediately make me feel more sophisticated. Two pearls on one earring – pure class. These earrings and your LBD are the match made in heaven.

And if you don’t take my word for it let these lovely ladies convince you. I’m sure they would be just as excited about this trend. The more pearls the merrier!

“Pearls are always appropriate.” – Jackie O

“A women needs ropes and ropes of pearls.” – Coco Chanel

“I favor pearls on screen and in my private life.” – Grace Kelley

Are you into this earring trend? What’s your staple jewelry piece?

Step Up Your PJ Game With Nighties

January 17, 2015 2 Comments

Nighties are the coziest, best thing to wear to bed. They are definitely more sexy than the standard large tee shirt, because come on you can do better than that! But they’re not so uncomfortable like a stringy piece of lingerie, that’s just unrealistic. Nighties can be both sweet or sexy.

It’s important to find the right fit in your chosen nightie! You don’t want the straps to be too tight, causing that uncomfortable digging into your skin. I hate waking up with crazy imprints on my skin. It also should be the softest piece of clothing you put on all day, I love silk or simple cotton.

And nighties that double as a very very casual dress, even better. You can live in those on Saturdays and not feel as bad about it for staying in your pjs all day!

Also, who doesn’t enjoy an adorable sleep mask? Love this lamb one from Bath and Body Works!

My favorite nighties:

Kenzie

Pj Salvage

Honey dew

Splendid

Wild Fox

Happy Saturday! What are you all doing this weekend? Are you wearing your PJs all weekend?
