Wedding Season is Here! Be the Best Dressed Guest!

May 12, 2015 1 Comment

Wedding season is upon us. Are you prepared? Along with wedding season comes the stress of finding the perfect dress and just as important, toned arms. But don’t worry… it doesn’t have to be as hard as you think if you follow some of the trusty fun new trends and arm workouts!Currently trending are different textures such as accordion pleats and neoprene, according to the always-fashionable R Meyers owner, Cindi Shelby, who also happens to be my awesome mother! Neoprene has come a long way since it first came out and is now quite light. It is a super comfortable fabric that will let you move and get down on the dance floor.

Also in style right now is lots of layering with nudes, whites, creams and blushes. However, if soft colors aren’t for you…think island vacation. Tropical florals like hot hibiscus, or deep-sea water like turquoise and teals. Try out these looks for both bridal showers or weddings and you will
be stylin’!

Dressing for…

Bridal Showers:
Pretty pastels, neutrals and feminine cuts are perfect for this occasion. Showers are also the time to test out some fun styles that ladies will appreciate it, and not be confused like the male counterparts! Jumpsuits are also coming out in a big way. Women will appreciate the statement you are making!

Weddings:
Summer weddings call for pretty colors, fun cuts and textures. Bohemian looks are still greatly in style so I love the opportunity to wear flowing dresses. Not to mention how it will come in handy if you get a little too full on all the yummy cake! Only rule is not to wear white!

For a quick arm tone up…

Birthday Outfit and Celebrations

May 3, 2015 Leave a Comment

Celebrating your birthday is the best, especially when you have the dearest friends and family! Each year I become even more amazed at how fast time passes. As time goes by, the more I realize how important it is to put perspective on your life and really appreciate all those special moments that bless you. Brush off the bad and savor the good! Maybe even don’t take life so seriously. (Those are tough words for me.)

As tradition called for, Colton and I went to the Melting Pot on my actual birthday for some delicious chocolate. I don’t think anything quite beats chocolate dipped bright red strawberries! Mmmm.

I am lucky enough that the weekend carried over the birthday celebrations. We went to La Brasa for my birthday dinner. La Brasa is a Peruvian restaurant and has the most delicious dishes. The words “Culinary Nirvana” have even been uttered about this place.

It is only appropriate to have a new birthday outfit so I was so pleased that the crazy Oklahoma weather allowed for my planned outfit. This Tracy Reese skirt is accordion pleated all the way down and is the most gorgeous purple color. This piece will be making a lot of appearances this year so I apologize in advance for the multiple wears.

Ended a great birthday week at brunch at the Museum of Art with my fabulous parents and sweet boyfriend! How fabulous is my mother’s hat?!

Going into the next year of my life, I am super excited to see what it holds. My goal is to really let go and not be afraid to take chances. Too often I am concerned with planning things out but I really want to learn how to take a step back and let it fall as it will. I can’t micromanage my life! I know that God has the best in store for me.

Any helpful life lessons to share??

Hike Oklahoma :: Wichita Mountains

September 3, 2014 4 Comments

How was everyone’s Labor Day? Mine was spent hiking with my boy at the Wichita Mountains. I hadn’t had a good day away from it all in the beautiful outdoors for too long. This was the perfect way to celebrate no labor 🙂 I’m so thankful to know whenever I need some relaxation, I can find it for free in the great outdoors!

Hiking is the best medicine! Challenging your legs, clearing your mind, inhaling fresh air, seeing beauty… ahhhh.

Oklahoma lacks some opportunities, but the Wichita Mountains is not one of them. They are simply gorgeous. We went hiking up Elk Mountain Trail, and bouldering at the Charon’s Garden Wilderness area. The trail took us about 50 minutes to climb up at a good solid pace. Then we bouldered for about 1 hour. My legs will be nice and shaky tomorrow. Talk about switching up a workout.

Oklahoma’s really quite beautiful <3

Just breathe. In and out.

Took a tumble down a slippery rock, luckily not boulder jumping.

I got to meet some little friends like this lizard and prairie dog.

Cacti are too beautiful! I’m so intrigued by them. Mix of beauty and pain.

Other fun discoveries by the Wichitas:

Medicine Park – Adorable historical cobblestone town
Meers Restaurant – Famous for Texas Longhorn burgers
Parallel Forest – Well known for lingering ghosts and spirits
Mount Scot – Drive up Mount Scot and see beautiful views, sans hiking
Holy City of Wichitas – Resembles Israel during biblical times and has an epic Easter passion play

Oklahoma Wine Trails

June 6, 2014 Leave a Comment

Being in the advertising world, I get to work on a lot of exciting projects. And this one is definitely one of them! Wait for it..

Oklahoma Agritourism is launching the Oklahoma Wine Trail Program !

I’m so unbelievably pumped about this new program for Oklahoma. Many Oklahomans and tourists are unaware of all of the amazing wineries we have throughout the state. Like, Girls Gone Wine, Whispering Meadows, Clauren Ridge..to name a few. This program includes 31 participating wineries broken down into 10 unique Wine Trails.

The trails are incentivized by the prospect of collecting all 10 unique Wine Charms. These are so adorable and can help tell your wine glasses apart from your friends at dinner parties. I have all ready claimed How Merlot Can You Go for every future party.

Exploring the beautiful landscapes of Oklahoma, being with a group of your girlfriends, and drinking wine?? I mean…what gets better than that? What are you waiting for…download your own map and passport.

Not to mention the exciting names of the trails::

  • How Merlot Can you Go?
  • Et tu, Brut?
  • Forgive me for I have Zinned
  • You’re Making Me Blush
  • I’m Drawing a Blanc
  • Simply Zinful
  • All You Do is Wine
  • Everything is Coming Up Roses
  • Que Syrah Syrah
  • Any Riesling to Drink

Take a weekend away and enjoy the Oklahoma Wine Trails!

Oklahoma City Weekends

June 2, 2014 Leave a Comment

What a weekend! Food trucks, rooftop bars, feather skirts, Thunder, sunshine…I’m worn out.

Oklahoma has started our very own style of food trucks at H and 8th and it’s pretty impressive. OKC is upping it’s cool factor with events like these around town. Absolutely cracks me up how Oklahomans leave these events complaining how crowded they are…when that is basically the point. Shut down streets and mingle time. We like our space and roaming hills 🙂

After sweating around with over 25,000 people it was time for a beverage so we went to the Ambassador Hotel which was equally exciting of a happening place in OKC. It’s an amazing new hotel that is absolutely beautiful.

Anywhere with a rooftop patio is ranking high in my book right now.

Saturday night was an event called Purple Sash, a fundraiser for YWCA. YWCA has a vision for “Providing help and hope to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Central Oklahoma.” Supporting women and empowering them to get out of harmful relationships makes all the difference. The event was emotional, empowering and exciting to bond with people making a difference and changing the cycle.

Entertainment was provided by R Meyers with a jaw dropping fashion show! An emerald green dress, by Carmen Marc Valvo, stole the show and I can’t stop thinking about it until it is in my hands. My life should be fine missing an extra couple hundred dollars, right??

This skirt could have a post all on its own. It’s BCBG and completely full of glamour and feathers. I felt amazing in it and can all ready picture a million other events it will be worn too. Trust me, it’s not going anywhere!

Not to mention, there was also a Thunder game. Unfortunately it didn’t end in a victory but our Thunder will bring it once again next year. We still love you boys!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

What were the highlights of your weekend?!
