4 Week Workout Series – Glutes

April 23, 2016 Leave a Comment

How is it the last week of the 4 Week Workout Series? I feel that the series just began. But April always flies by so fast, meaning it will be sweet summer time before we know it, and that means bikini time. Yeah, I said it. However, you don’t have to be nervous if you continue on your healthy journey doing a few workouts each week and eating the good stuff. By good stuff, I mean your fruits, veggies, nuts, fish, etc. Not your cupcakes, cookies, donuts. I knew a few of you would need that clarification 😉

glutes

This glute workout focuses on toning the entire behind – gluteus minimus, medius, and maximus – to get it lifted and tight from every angle! Kind of like this lady’s good looking booty who has become famous on Instagram with over 9 million followers due to her dedication to her toned tush!

So when your glutes are burning during this workout, have a goal in mind and keep the glutes lifted as high as you can! Really hold the isolation and think about the muscles you are working for best results. After the workout, if you still want a little more of a booty challenge, go for a run or walk on the treadmill at an incline to continue that delicious burn.

4 Week Workout Series – Glutes

I hope you guys have enjoyed the 4 Week Workout Series including the arms, core, legs and finally, the glutes. Doing workouts that either need no, or only one set of dumbbells can be very useful when you are in a pinch for time and can’t make it to the gym. Because, remember, any workout is better than no workout! Do what you can!

Which move made your glutes burn the most for you? Which focus area would you like more workouts for?

Spring Cleaning Closet Clean Out

April 21, 2016 Leave a Comment

closet clean out

Who doesn’t appreciate a nice clean closet? An intensive closet clean out is super important for me to do each year to feel ready for spring and summer! I have a couple steps in my spring cleaning ritual that prepares me for the new season. Not to mention it’s nice to reacquaint yourself with what’s in your closet, even the clothes buried way back in there…

I hope some of these tips will help you in your own closet clean out ðŸ™‚

Closet Clean Out Steps – Spring Cleaning Edition

Step one: Evaluate the winter clothes in your closet and what you really, truthfully wore this year. Make piles of what to keep and what to toss. Did you wear that sweater? Be honest. If you didn’t wear it, toss it!!

But, I really love it and it might come back in trend! Fine, do the test. Assess the quality and look of each piece. Is it high quality and something that will last a long time and come back in style? If so, you’re allowed to keep it one more season and then do the test the following. If it’s yuck quality, and you didn’t even wear it once this year. Give it up girl.

Step Two: Once you have assessed the clothes and have the items that you have fought an inner battle with and chosen to toss, hurry and put it in a trash bag and tie it up, tightly. That way, you won’t be tempted late in the night when you can’t sleep to go extract it from the bag because you just thought of a great way you could wear it. No, just no. If it helps your cause, invite some friends over and drink champagne to help the difficult process of saying bye to clothing items you once loved. I get you.

Step Three: Once you have cleaned out your winter, focus on the spring and summer. Did you wear all the items the prior year, do any stick out that you know you will NEVER wear this season? If so, add it to the unwanted winter trash bag. The next morning bring your trash bags to the nearest clothing donation center and give them away. It will also make you feel good!!

Step Four: Now, you’re feeling much better right? Maybe have a little extra space in your closet? Good, let your clothes breathe and not be crammed together gasping for air. You don’t want them on top of each other getting all wrinkled. Before you pack away or rearrange your winter clothes so that spring and summer is at the forefront, select any of the winter clothes that need to be dry cleaned so they will be ready to go for next season.

Step Five: Speaking of the cleaners, take a look at spring and summer. Any need a clean? Or just a good steam? Steam the wrinkled pieces and then put them in your closet, ready for wear.

I’m also horrified at all my diverse, strange hangers. It’s quite an eclectic group. How did I acquire all of these, am I a hanger thief? Now, this isn’t a step in my process, but I would love to buy nice hangers soon and swap out all my old ones so that they are all nice and the same.

It can be a challenging task to determine what to keep and what to get rid of, but if you didn’t wear it ONCE the whole season, you probably won’t wear it ever again. Be honest with yourself. Get rid of those ick pieces!!

How do you clean your closet? Do you each year or once in a blue moon?

A Windy Day and Pink Maxi Dress

April 19, 2016 Leave a Comment

pink maxi dress

OH, hey guys! Don’t mind me while I blow away on this windy day in my pink maxi dress.

You don’t know windy until it’s sweeping down the plain! Oklahoma is infamous for its powerful, strong windy days. I usually don’t even notice how absurd the wind is until I go somewhere else and realize, oh this is how normal wind is. Dressing for the wind is a skill and you have to consider it when picking out your clothes for the day, I wish I were joking. Think I would have ANY photos to post if I had been in a short dress today? Nope!

I love this casual easy look for a Sunday. It’s super easy to throw this button up denim shirt and pink maxi dress on and go. I love outfits that are carefree, but equally cute! Some days I don’t mind getting super dressed up, but other days, getting dressed is my least favorite thing on my to do list. What do you like to just throw on and call it good?

And how awesome are these earrings? Picked them up from R Meyers in Nichols Hills if you’re an OKC lady. I love these earrings because they don’t need earring backs. You just slip the back through and that’s all. Easy schmeezy. Does anyone else lose an unnatural amount of earring backs? Those and bobby pins. I’d hate to see a tally of lost versus found. I will admit to you that I have even done the eraser trick before when I lost my earring back and desperately wanted to keep my earrings in. Desperate times call for desperate measures. You just take the eraser out of your mechanical pencil and poke your earring through it. Ha. Happy to say that was many, many years ago. Have you all heard of that? Also, have you heard the word “mechanical pencil” in awhile? Do kids still call it that? Do they even use pencils anymore?

In continuation of easy, I love these Converse because I don’t even have to tie my shoes!! Guys, you can be super lazy on Sundays and these earrings and shoes take it to the next level.

Hope you guys have a great week! 🙂

4 Week Workout Series – Leg Workout

April 16, 2016 4 Comments

We are in the third week of the 4 Week Workout series! Join me for this grueling, in a good way, leg workout to tone and shape your legs!

Who can believe how quickly April is flying by? I wouldn’t mind for it to slow down a beat. I just love the spring weather, and Oklahomans know that “spring weather” doesn’t last very long! Oklahoma weather typically goes from blizzard to dreadful heat! Also, my quarter of a century birthday is coming up so I am trying to make a good list of 25 things to do at 25 before its here at the end of April. Do you all have any fun ideas?

In this week’s workout we are focusing on toning and shaping our legs. Motivation for getting through it 3 times? Those adorable shorts you just got! This leg workout will work your quads, calves, hamstrings and glutes. By the end of the workout, your legs should be on fire. If not, you can add more of a challenge by sinking lower into each move, or by adding weights to the moves. If you need to work up to this leg workout, you can choose to not do the jumping lunges and squats and just stay with the stationary.

Subscribe to A Latte Lipstick on YouTube to be updated on any new workouts or tutorials!

4 Week Workout Series – Leg Workout

Shuffle and toe tap – 10 times

15 squats

15 squat pulses

15 squat jumps

15 lunges

15 lunge pulses

15 lunge jumps

20 squat and side kick

10 down and ups (L&R)

:30 High Knees

X2

Make sure that you keep your core in with every move! Your weight should be in the back of those heels in all those squat movements and your knees should never go past those toes.

What have you been thinking of the workouts? Too long, too short? Too easy, too hard? Let me know! Be sure and check out the Arm Workout and Core Workout if you missed this in this 4 Week Workout series. Be sure and come back next week, we will be working on getting some good booties and working the glutes!

Personal Style and a Polka Dot Clutch

March 29, 2016 4 Comments

I have always enjoyed dressing like a “Business Woman.” Every chance I got as a little girl I would put on my mother’s off the shoulder polka dot dress and strut around with too big for me heels, pearls and a lipstick application gone wrong. From a young age, I had discovered the power of clothes and how various looks could make you feel so different. Clothes allow you to express yourself and portray distinct attitudes and vibes. How amazing is that? Some days I might be super bright, while other days, I like to go with a good neutral understated look. Your personal style is truly yours and you can change it as often as you like!

So when I am in my “Business Woman” mood, I adore this matching top and skirt. It’s simple to throw on and not think about because I know that it pairs perfectly together (it is a set, if you couldn’t tell.) 😉 You just have to love those carefree outfits that look a lot more impressive then they really are. Notice the neckline too, I just love it! Very Mad Men-esque.

Still keeping on trend with my younger self’s fashion sense, I love this polka dot clutch. It gives off the perfect vibe of a serious woman with things to do with a mix of fun. No one likes a too serious person, nor do they like a too serious outfit. This clutch adds the perfect amount of playfulness.

The skirt is pretty form fitting and just a tad short so I paired with some nice grey tights, which works perfectly when it’s chilly. Or, when the office is blasting freezing cold air.

No matter what look you wear most, remember that your personal style can change as much as you want! You don’t have to be constrained by one “look.” Keep people guessing! 🙂

How would you explain your personal style?
