Healthy breakfast just got easy with these peanut butter cocoa energy bites!

These energy bites are so delicious and full of protein and nutrition. My favorite thing about them is how simple it is to just grab them and go. Whenever your hair is soaking wet and you're throwing things into your purse, it's easy to lunge for these while racing out the door. If you didn't catch it, I'm not the best at getting ready. I guess you could say I'm not completely out of my college living habits. Hey, old habits die hard!  It's difficult not to miss the choice of being able to stay in yoga pants all day!

Regardless of if you are pristine and graceful in heels strutting out your front door, or a complete mess racing out, you will appreciate having an easy breakfast or snack.

Your excuse of running to grab fast food is invalid with these little bites!

When your tummy starts rumbling, these bites are a filling fast cure. These energy bites are easy to make and great for when a sweet tooth hits midday. I don't know what I would do without nut butters! I never feel deprived after having a yummy peanut butter snack.

Sometimes the best way to manage from overeating is to never get starving! Throw some of these in your purse, car, workout bag, etc to have throughout the week. I love how easy these are to take with you anywhere, the worse that could happen is them getting a little smushed!!

PB Cocoa Oatmeal Energy Bites Ingredients::

1/2 C PB - I like this peanut butter best.
1 C Oats - Currently using this gluten free oatmeal.
1/2 C Flax Seed
1/3 C Raw Honey
1/4 C Unsweetened Coconut
1/4 C Cocoa Powder
Sprinkle of Sea Salt

Now mix! To be honest, I actually just mix the ingredients together using my hands. It seems to work best. Also as a plus, after it's well mixed you have the opportunity to lick your fingers! It's a must!

What is your grab and go breakfast?

Ready to Rumble NFL Style

1. NFL Jersey-Fanatics
2. Stella Dot Earrings
3&4. J Crew Rings
5. Old Boyfriend Jeans, similar here.
6. Steve Madden Bag
7. Steve Madden Shoes

If you know me at all, you know that I'm not the biggest football fan, or sports fan out there in general. However, I do love to create cute game day outfits! Fanatics asked for me to make an outfit with one of their awesome NFL Jerseys, an excuse to wear a big comfy jersey and style it in my own way? As Barney would say, Challenge Accepted.

Thought I would show some support to the team that woulda coulda shoulda been and give some love to Romo, while additionally gaining some points with the boyfriend.

I spiced up the average jersey look and made it a little more edgy with fun accessories and a killer bag. I am loving these hybrid Steve Madden shoes mixed between a cute boot and clog. The black and brown incorporated in the shoe makes it easy to style with anything! Of course I will add a dark lip, and the outfit will be complete.

What are your plans for the Super Bowl? I hope you will get to enjoy some beverages and yummy snacks. Might have to make some Skinny Margaritas and Spicy Black Bean Dip.

Who is ready for the Super Bowl? Will you be decked out in your favorite jersey?

Let's Talk Strength Training.

Never underestimate the power of lifting weights. I would go so far to say that weight lifting is more important and critical than cardio if you want quick healthy results. Women get sucked into a trap of wanting to just do cardio to lose weight, however, lifting weights is so important!! It not only makes you stronger and toned, it also revs up your metabolism for hours, and protects your body from injury in normal day to day activity.

Form is everything in strength training!

  • To keep your entire shoulder balanced, equally do sets of push ups and rows. If not, the front of shoulder will be stronger while the back of your shoulder is weaker, which can cause postural problems. And we all know that posture is important! Having good posture exudes confidence and power.
  • Always watch your toes in squats! Your knees should be pointed in the same direction as your toes and your weight should be in your heels.
  • When doing chest presses on the bench, keep your feet on the ground. It takes tension off your chest when your feet are on a bench or in the air.
  • Put your elbows below your nose, instead of below your shoulders when doing a plank exercise. It forces your core muscles to work 2x as hard.

The results can be quicker if you change up your techniques:

  • Change your pace. Bust out some reps as fast as you can, then slow it downnnn.
  • Drop it low. To begin, choose the heaviest weight you can manage and do 10 reps. Then, decrease your weight by around 15% and do it again. Decrease each following set weight until completely fatigued.
  • Slow your pace down. The slower you go, the less momentum you can use.
  • Mix heavy and light dumbbells. Light dumbbells allows you to incorporate explosive movements.

Which strength training exercises do you like best? Have any tips to add?

Delicious Eats, Bowling and Sunshine Filled Weekend

What a lovely and beautiful weekend we were blessed with in OKC. The sunshine was a much welcomed friend after the past weeks of drab weather! I'm either all about warm sunshine or frigid cold with snow on the ground, none of this in between weather.

Colton and I went to Guernsey Park finally after hearing great things about it. Loved reading their menu of deliciousness, each dish equally sounded full of enticing flavors.

Kept it simple with the shrimp roll. Can't go wrong there. Next time we go I promise I'll be more adventurous! I always struggle between choosing something that I know will be amazing and I'll love or really changing it up and finding new tastes.

Carrot. Cake. This was so amazing, moist, sweet and perfect. I'm such a crazy chocaholic but had to try this carrot cake and am so glad that we did. Shaved fried carrots were sprinkled over the cake along with delicious creamy ice cream melting on top. Honey drizzled. Basically, pure perfection.

Ward Off Dryness This Winter With These Products

Winter is a beautiful time of the year! I love the chill in the air and the comfy-ness that it brings. However, winter is a challenging time to keep your body properly moisturized and your hair shiny. It is important to use the right products to hydrate but it's also very important to hydrate from the inside out. Drink tons and tons of water during winter to properly hydrate your body. What doesn't water improve?!

Use a humidifier! Humidifers are very useful to put in your bedroom to relieve dry skin, cracked lips and ward off cold/flu symptoms. Plus, I love the calming constant sound of a humidifier in my room it gently puts me to sleep.

A few select products have most definitely saved my skin and hair this winter. Without them, my face would be dry, my lips would be cracked and my hair would be a dry disgrace.

January Monthly Musings and Mentionables

Who can believe that we are now over half way done with January? How is everyone's year going so far? Has everyone that made goals stuck with them?

I can definitely see the gym's population growth this last month. No complaining here, super proud of everyone! Be sure to encourage any newcomers you see at the gym this month, even if they are taking your "spot." Work it super hard, you never know if you're the one who could be motivating someone else to push harder!

Here are some of my favorite readings this month -->

I have never foam rolled but I know that I should. Loved these tips on which muscles to foam roll.

We all know how fabulous coffee is, so why not improve it with this Coffee Cocktail?!
I can't wait to try this recipe next weekend. Seems like a perfect laying by the fire reading and
sipping kind of drink.

My lips have been doing miserably this winter and are so dry! I need to try this lip scrub immediately. There is nothing worse then peeling clumpy red lipstick. Kills the look.

Nails can be hard to take care of but are very noticeable so it's important to keep them clean and neat. Need to try these healthy nail products to keep my nails healthy this winter!

Adore high intensity workouts? Try this tabata workout this week and be sweating in no time.

The weather has been crazy lately and throwing my body all out of whack. I thought that I had outsmarted the common cold, but it got me in the end. I took an entire week off of working out because it's not the best to workout when sick.

Love new breakfast ideas like these Quinoa Egg White Cups!

Hope you're having a great week! What have you read worth sharing lately?

Power of Green Smoothies

Smoothies have been in the US since the 1930s! Back then they only included ice and fruit, but today they have evolved to include additional goodness like protein, wheatgrass, seeds, and more, making it a great healthy meal replacement option.

Victoria Boutenko started and popularized the green smoothie after studying the effect of greens on chimpanzees. The US human diet consists of about 3% of greens while the chimpanzees had about 39% and were much more resistant to disease than humans. She then popularized the idea of green smoothies. Now many people consume green smoothies daily and use them to cleanse their body and heal illness.

Did you know that the essential ingredient in your greens (chlorophyll) assists in purifying your blood, and reduces the development of body odor and bad breath? It does. Also greens are alkaline which balances your ph, which additionally fixes thousands of health problems. Juices are a great way to get in all those veggies that are difficult to get in a single day. They provide a lot of natural energy; one juice or smoothie a day can help increase health, liveliness, and maintain weight.

Not only are juices healthy for the inside of your body, it shows on the outside. Getting enough greens can greatly improve the look of your skin, making it appear more youthful and clearing acne and other skin problems.

Evolution Fresh is doing a super awesome 3 day Challenge that I am going to be doing this week so I thought I would share with you! It's easy. All you have to do is buy three green juices and have one each day, for three days.

Step Up Your PJ Game With Nighties

Nighties are the coziest, best thing to wear to bed. They are definitely more sexy than the standard large tee shirt, because come on you can do better than that! But they're not so uncomfortable like a stringy piece of lingerie, that's just unrealistic. Nighties can be both sweet or sexy.

It's important to find the right fit in your chosen nightie! You don't want the straps to be too tight, causing that uncomfortable digging into your skin. I hate waking up with crazy imprints on my skin. It also should be the softest piece of clothing you put on all day, I love silk or simple cotton.

And nighties that double as a very very casual dress, even better. You can live in those on Saturdays and not feel as bad about it for staying in your pjs all day!

Also, who doesn't enjoy an adorable sleep mask? Love this lamb one from Bath and Body Works!

My favorite nighties:

Kenzie
Pj Salvage
Honey dew
Splendid
Wild Fox

Happy Saturday! What are you all doing this weekend? Are you wearing your PJs all weekend?

4 Ways Of Thinking To Improve In 2015

I'm not necessarily doing New Years resolutions but want to improve upon my way of thinking and living this year. You only get to do 2015 once.

Be thankful everyday. Isn't it crazy how much you don't realize how important something is until it's gone? I should be appreciating the special things in my life everyday, rather than needing something to happen to remind me. I have soooo much to be thankful for!

Trust myself. Lately I have been doubting myself, which is a terrible thing to do. I need to trust in myself and take authority over my life and my decisions, because they are my own.

Always listen to my body. Your body tells you exactly what it needs if you only listen. Start taking cues from your body, it tells you when you're actually hungry, when you're thirsty, when you need rest and when you can push yourself. Give your body that rest when it needs it and push it when it is ready. It's tempting to do what your mind wants to, but listen to your body.

Take more chances. Oftentimes I prefer to stay with the known and live comfortably but now is the time I should be taking more chances. Getting out of the comfort zone pushes you and shows you what you are truly capable of doing and discovering about yourself.

What will you do with 2015?

Have you had your SuperFood?

One of my favorite Christmas presents had to definitely be my Texas SuperFood nutritional supplements from my father. Pretty exciting I know!

As hard as I try to get in all my fruits and veggies, it can be quite difficult! SuperFood is filled with 55 organic fruits and veggies in a simple capsule.

Not only does it provide servings of organic fruit/veggies, but it also helps create natural energy. If you're feeling sluggish throughout the day, these capsules can be lifesavers without chugging caffeine!

SuperFood is said to help provide you energy, maintain weight, improve immune health, and create consistent sleep cycles. The bottle has a supply for 3 months, and you take 6 capsules each day.

I'll let you know what my thoughts are after the 3 months is up!

What supplements do you take?

3 Different Looks with Boyfriend Jeans

Don't get stuck in the classic jean rut! I have been continuing to adore styling and wearing my boyfriend jeans. The jean's versatility allows you to create super fun differing looks, over and over again.

Some of my favorite looks to style with boyfriend jeans:

The Classy Look: Add some class to your boyfriend jean look. Adore the crisp white blazer mixed with the rough look of the jean. Add some low neutral heels and some simple silver bracelets. Great for a "casual" Friday!

The Cuddly Look: We already know my obsession with fur vests, so why not pair them with boyfriend jeans? Wear either a solid white or black tee underneath and some cute understated flats. Chunky bracelet.

The Western Look: Plaid is such a winning pattern, tie in some tassels and you're there! The jeans add some intrigue to the boot-plaid shirt combo without straying too far from the classic Western look we all know and love. Then you must add some glamour with a sparkly dramatic necklace.

How do you style your boyfriend jeans?

8 Efficient Moves for Sculpted Arms - 20 Minute Workout

There is nothing that can make you feel better, or worse, than how your arms look in photos. Am I right, or am I right?

Heading into 2015, I have the goal to continue my fitness quest and create new short workouts that can fully work the entire body in a short amount of time. Nonetheless, no toned body part makes me feel more powerful than strong arms. Sculpted arms tell the world that you are serious about fitness and that they best not be messing with you! Let's get some good arm definition this year, ladies!

The key to getting sculpted arms is also to not have too much, ahem fluff, on them. You can have very strong arms but the muscles are sadly not being shown because of that little somethin somethin covering them. Meaning, I like to incorporate strategically placed cardio in all my arm workouts to keep the heart rate up the whole workout. This will keep metabolism revved hours later and burning fat.
