How easy it is to grab that way too sugary protein bar pretending it is healthy because you are starving or want a snack? I have done this way too often because I’m famished and want something immediately. However, many quick snacks you nosh on are loaded with terrifyingly over processed ingredients. The worst part is telling yourself you’re “being healthy.”
The trick is to have actual healthy snacks on hand when you can’t hold your snacking self away from the kitchen.
These 5 items should always be stocked in your kitchen. Trust me, if you have these 5 things to choose from, you will begin to see the results and feel better! Snacking will actually be helping you by boosting your metabolism rather than packing on pounds.
You must be dedicated to snacking right by stocking your refrigerator for the week and planning healthy snacks before the snacking frenzy hits… You know what I’m talking about.
- Veggies
Cut these up and have in your refrigerator to stuff into your face whenever you’re famished. Quick nutrition and helps rid yourself of hunger. Do this right when you get home from a long stressful day so that you aren’t reaching for that chocolate cake when famished. I’m totally not speaking from experience or anything.. 😉 - Nut Butter or Nuts
Pick your nut. Either of these options are fabulous for getting in healthy fats and protein. Also fills you up pretty quickly. - Fruit
Fruit is great to enjoy when you are craving sweet and don’t need it. - Smoked Salmon
This is a great protein with omega-3 fats and iron. I have this at least every other week for a delicious snack – it feels like an extra special snack. - Hummus
It’s a great healthy protein packed condiment that pairs great with those veggies and pita chips. Hummus has been found to reduce appetite too, making it a great appetizer. Beware of eating too many pita chips!
