Two months done, less than one month to go in the 3 Month Challenge. We have done no alcohol, no dairy, and now it’s no dessert for March. Definitely a challenging month, especially for those with an everlasting sweet tooth, like me. So can dessert ever really taste bad?
Not allowing dessert for a longer amount of time is a really good way to reset any sugary habits and your tolerance of sugar. If I do it long enough, when I allow myself to have those super sweet treats again after the allotted time, they usually taste too sweet and not as good as I remembered them. Honestly, after a while of not eating sugary foods, you will get a stomach ache after eating it. That’s the goal for this month. Make donuts taste bad…let’s see how that goes?!
The thing about dessert is that it’s more of a habit. I am used to getting a sweet treat at the end of the day, but that shouldn’t be something I’m looking forward to. An idea to wake you from your habit? Set an alarm on your phone for the usual time you might slip and gorge on some cookies, brownies, or your chosen sweet, the alarm can wake you from your bad habits and help you realize you don’t need it and that it’s more habitual.
Is any cheating allowed? The one thing I am allowing myself is very dark chocolate, and a small amount. Dark chocolate has many benefits for you and if it’s super dark, it’s good for you. So, I will continue to allow that sparingly. Sometimes when I completely say NO NO NO then I go crazy overeating other things, and I don’t want that. If you have ginourmous meals because you can’t have dessert, you’re really not helping matters.
